In the early 1960's Stuart Sutcliffe was the bassist for a skiffle/rock group called The Beatles. While playing with their group (with then members: John Lennon, George Harrison, Paul McCartney and Pete Best) he met a beautiful German girl named Astrid Kirchherr. Astrid was currently seeing a man by the name of Klaus Voorman but she and Stu were smitten with each other. Before long Stu proposed to Astrid, dropped out of the band to stay with her and pursue his artistic career. Unfortunately their love was short lived as tragedy befell the young couple. On April 10, 1962 Stu suffered a major brain hemmorrage and died. He was only twenty-two.
Astrid and Stu had a short affair but it was strong and powerful while it lasted and it shaped and changed a great many aspects, including some of what made its way into The Beatles. Astrid was responsible for the moptop Beatle haircut as well as taking many early photographs of the five lads during their Hamburg days. This listing is for Stu and Astrid to show that their love still lives on, even today.
